ARTS+ECONOMICS N°11 APRIL 2023
This issue of ÆS is the second dedicated to ESG, an acronym that summarizes the three pillars of sustainability of any company or institution. After ad- dressing the environmental issue by dealing with the impact of culture on the planet, we are now focusing on the social aspect.
The authors involved in the issue intervened to recount experiences of art and activism (Francesca Guerisoli, Mario Cristiani), of urban redevelopment and social inclusion (Anna Chiara Cimoli, Francesco Mannino, Christian Leperino), of commitment beyond profit (Thomas Girst, Franco Broccardi) and impact measurement (Paola Dubini). But, most important, we have given space to young people, not only by talking about them (Matteo Lancini, Giovanna Romano), but also by giving them the floor, because their future is at stake. Therefore, the activists of the Last Generation and five young people who participated in the FRA – Futuro Ragione Arte Forum, which took place on 11-12 November 2022 in Pescara, wrote for us: Isabella Palumbi, Alessandro Giraldi, Giorgia Patroni, Rebecca Cardillo, Irene Verde, Samuel Hernández De Luca. Two of them also made illustrations that accompany the writings. These are strongly autobiographical images that depict the beauty of the natural world in its purity and ingenuity and, at the same time, vulnerability. Another artist was called to open the issue, the Mexican Narsiso Martinez, who tells his story of emancipation through education and, with his portraits, draws the attention of distracted consumers back to the workers in the fields who, every day, bring the food on their plates. Enjoy!
